On this day the flowers was laid to the memorial plaque on the facade of the Leontief family house on Zhdanovskaya Street 43. In this very house Wassily Leontief, famous economist, future Nobel-Prize Winner and the  Leontief Centre founder lived during 1906-1925

In the framework of VIII Conference Leontief Readings preparation in Leontief Centre the gallery of Leontief medal laureates has been created.

The exposition at stands was exposed in conference hall and portraits of Leontief medal “For Achievements in Economy” laureates 2003-2005 (Leontief Centre nominees) and International Leontief Medal “For Contribution to Economic Reforms” laureates 2006-2008 have been presented.

The gallery is constantly exhibited in Leontief Centre (address: 25, 7th Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, St Petersburg)

The Conference Programme included following parallel section meetings: “Economics, Law, and Transformation of the Russian Society”, “Economic Analysis of Law and Criminal Conduct”, “Economy Legal and Illegal”. In the framework of the plenary sessions a wide range of issues was discussed, from the role of law in social-economic transformation of Russia to economic approach to legal norms interpretation and to defining legal and illegal constituents of modern economic systems.

On February 26, 2009 in the framework of Leontief Readings Conference the traditional ceremony of laying flowers to the memorial plaque on the facade of the Leontief family home on 43, Zhdanovskaya Street was held.

The Ceremony was devoted to the 10th anniversary of Wassily Leontief death.

On the Ceremony have made speech: Irina Karelina, Director General of ICSER Leontief Centre, N.S. Solomahina, deputy head of Petrograd District Administration, Alexander Granberg, Member of Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Chairman of the Council for the Study of Productive Resources (SOPS), Masaaki Kuboniva, laureate 2004 of the Wassily Leontief Medal For Achievements in Economy, Professor of the Institute of Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University (Japan), Leonid Rukhovets, Director of Saint-Petersburg Economics and Mathematics Institute of RAS, Leonid Limonov, Director-Coordinator of Research Programs of ICSER Leontief Centre, Svetlana Kalyadina, historian-biographer of Wassily Leontief.

On February 5, 2009 ten years have passed since the death of Wassily Leontief. On this day the flowers was laid to the memorial plaque on the facade of the Leontief family house on Zhdanovskaya Street 43. In this very house Wassily Leontief, famous economist, future Nobel-Prize Winner and the  Leontief Centre founder lived during 1906-1925.

On February 26, in the same place, in the framework of VIII Annual Leontief Readings the solemn ceremony will be held, devoted to the 10th anniversary of Wassily Leontief death.

In 2006 the opening of memorial plaque was included in Wassily Leontief Centenary Celebration Programme as one of the central  event. The Plague was established On October 4th 2007 on the basis of the St Petersburg Government Regulation #1 from15 of January 2007.

 

 

November, 2008
Magazine Rodina N11 - 2008, published the article «We could probably shoot you, after all», devoted to Wassily Leontief, the first Russian which has received the Nobel Prize. The Author Dmitry Mityurin tells about several months from life of the future winner of the prestigious award which he has spent in GPU on Gorokhovaya street in 1922-beginning 1923.

October 4th, 2007 at 16.00 the opening ceremony of memorial plaque of Wassily Leontief, Nobel Prize Winner, on the facade of the house on Zhdanovskaya Street 43, was held.

The decision on installation of a memorial plaque was taken in September 2006 in the framework of carrying out of Centenary Programme of Wassily Leontief Centenary Celebration. Opening Ceremony of memorial plaque is held within VII Annual Leontief Conference «Economic Theory and History». On March 31st, 2007 a lection devoted to the Nobel Prize winner Wassily Leontief and, particularly, to his work Structure of the World Economy: Outline of a Simple Input-Output Formulation was held at Economic Faculty of Chuvashia State University in the framework of intellectual club activities. At the instance of organizers Leontief Centre supported organization of the event.


Students of Economic Faculty in cooperation with administration of Chuvashia State University organized intellectual club titled Speech Club to discuss activities of Nobel Prize winners and their works. Each lection includes two reports and two co-reports, presentations and handouts, students make reports. Lections are followed by discussions. University teachers are members of the jury.
