The Leontief Library of Chuo University

The Leontief Library of Chuo University refers to the collection of books, papers, statistical data, files, notebooks, and memos that Dr. Wasily W. Leontief (1906-1999) kept stored at Brandeis University, New York University, his home, and in his villa (in Connecticut). Chuo University maintains and manages this collection with the cooperation of the Institute of Seizon and Life Science and PAPAIOS (the Pan Pacific Association of Input-Output Studies).

A listing of the approximately 9,000 books that were donated by Dr. Leontief (winner of the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1973) is nearing completion. However, much of the other material has yet to be organized, and the university is currently working on sorting out these items. At present, we have made public a listing of all of the materials (books as well as other items) that were sorted out as of October of 2002.
