REGULATIONS on Wassily Leontief medal
«For achievements in economy»
To meet the challenges facing the
Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in Russian economy development –
creating favorable climate for science development, improving the
state well-being, supporting and encouraging the most talented
scientists and experts in economic science and market economy
development – the Presidium of the Academy established a medal in
name of Wassily Leontief «For Achievements in Economy».
-
The Wassily Leontief Medal shall be awarded to:
-
the scientists and the experts who have brought a significant
contribution to development of the economic theory and the theory
of market economy development;
-
the practitioners who have created and managed
conditions for market economy development, competitive production
output, favorable conditions for regional development;
-
the specialists in the field of
production and social conditions management who have facilitated
the welfare improvement of a region.
-
The medal shall be awarded by the
Presidium of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences on the
recommendation of the awards commission considering the eligible
nominees recommended by the sections, Members of the Academy and
Leontief Foundation.
-
The Medal Winners should actively
participate in the Academy work,;
perform charity work on Academy constitutional provisions and
publishing.
-
The medal shall be accompanied by an honorary diploma of the
established pattern.
-
The medal shall be worn on the left
breast.

Rewarding Ceremonies and the Medal laureates nominated by the

A medal in name
of Wassily Leontief “For
Achievements in Economy” was
established by the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences in 2002
in cooperation with the International Centre for Social and Economic
Research Leontief Centre. The medal is given to the scientists,
statespersons, and practitioners in recognition
of
their outstanding contributions to economic
science development and Russian economy reforming. The medal shall
be awarded by the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Natural
Sciences on the recommendation of the awards commission considering
the eligible nominees recommended by the sections, Members of the
Academy and ICSER Leontief Centre.
The First
Rewarding Ceremony was held in the
Mariinsky Palace on September 16-18, 2003 in the framework of the
International Symposium “Prize Winners in Economic Sciences in
memory of Alfred Nobel and Russian Economic Schools” under the
auspices of the Legislative Assembly. The Medal 2003 recipients
nominated by the ICSER Leontief Centre are:

on June 18, 2004. It was organized by the Russian Academy of Natural
Sciences and the International Centre for Social and Economic
Research Leontief Centre in cooperation with the Legislative
Assembly of St. Petersburg.

The Forth Rewarding Ceremony
will be held on September 29-30
2006 in the House of Scientists, St. Petersburg, in the framework of
the six Annual Conference Leontief Readings. The nominees are Alexey
Kudrin, Minister of Finance of RF; Yegor Gaidar, Director of the
Institute for the Economy in Transition. Two more candidates to be
nominated are being selected from amongst Russian and foreign
academicians. Traditionally, the previous years' laureates and
nominees will welcome everybody.
