On the June 18^th, 2004 the Second Ceremony of rewarding of outstanding scientists and practitioners whose careers spanned decades of research and development, with the Wassily Leontief medals For Achievements in Economy was held in White Hall (Mariinsky Palace, St.-Petersburg).

The Ceremony was intended to coincide with the St. Petersburg Economic Forum – 2004. The hosts of the event – the Russian Academy of Natural Science and the International Centre for Social and Economic Research Leontief Centre in cooperation with the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg.
